This is sturdy and well built and works the way it's supposed to. It allowed me to put my anemometer up on poles (3 - 10' chain link top rails) - one rail sunk 2' in concrete with 2 others stacked up, held with guys wires (1/16" stainless patio light kit wires)- to 28' height and put my sensor suite on a 5' solid signal satellite TV dish antenna tripod and move that away from my wife's garden and around as needed. My only gripe is the instructions were incomplete. I set this as transmitter 2 (ISS was #1) then in advanced settings from my laptop edited both ISS and this transmitter, and put the name "wind" of anemometer in both (do not use the same name for transmitter as you did for the ISS). I needed to get my anemometer up from between the trees, so I used this to install it at the top of a 110 foot tower, separate from the rest of the weather station. It was very easy to set up and install, and worked flawlessly. These Davis products are well designed, intuitive, reliable, and the expectations were well met.

I have used this unit for 5 months now, it allowed me to mount my anemometer at the correct height, the performance is less than I expected. The unit has always seemed to record the wind speed accurately, the direction on the other hand, I am not impressed with. Sometimes, despite which direction the wind vane is pointing, the display sticks at north and all I have is two dashes - - for wind direction. I contacted Davis on several occasions, I was told what to do with my Davis Software, which I do not have, so I just live with it the way it is. I have not received a gold star on Weather Underground since I installed this unit.

Purchased this to enable me to place my Davis VP2 anemometer at a location separate from the Davis 6153 weather station. This wireless transmitter is easily configured to communicate to the same Davis VP2 console as the ISS (integrated sensor suite). My ideal location to mount the anemometer in the rear of my property and would have resulted in the rain and 24hr aspirated radiation shield being unsightly (as the Davis 6153 is rather large). Tied in easily with my Davis station. Arrived very quickly and in perfect condition. I think I got this same day shipping and it came that day, but alas it was too dark to get up on my roof and mount it. Everything needed for installation came with it, and 15 minutes after starting it the next morning it was transmitting. My weather console found it easily and 2-3 weeks later there have been no adverse issues. Good product and good service through Amazon.

I bought this so I could relocate my anemometer high on the roof and away from my other instruments. It's the same quality as came with my main system and programming it and my receiving display panel was quick and easy. The only negative is that the supplied U bolts are 1/4" shorter than I would like for going around 1 1/2" PVC pipe. They work, but it can be fussy to get the nuts started when working in the cold, high off the ground.

A couple months ago, I installed this transmitter kit on my roof along with the Davis 6410 Anemometer ($121), so I could get more accurate wind direction and speed measurements than with the anemometer built into my Vantage Vue weather station. I installed both on a metal pole ($5), attached to my roof using a Winegard SW-0012 Gable End Mount ($27). It was very simple and straightforward following the instructions to transmit the wind data to my Vantage Vue console. It also has had a perfect record in transmitting the data to the console.
