Great, fun movie.
What a great movie! I love movies that keep you guessing throughout the entire film. Who's the bad guy? Are THEY really the good guys? How are they going to get out of this...? This movie had it all. Great actors, great plot. Funny and dramatic. And you know how I know it was a good movie? My wife didn't go to sleep in the middle of it. +++AAA

Stellar performances
Christian Bale hits it out of the park again! Margo Robbie and David Washington are wonderful too. It's funny, entertaining, and loosely based on a true story. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will watch again,.

Pretty and talented people run around in nice clothing and emote. It’s not good.
If you’ve heard about this movie, you probably are interested in the top-notch cast: Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, Anya Taylor-Joy, Rami Malek, Robert De Niro, Chris Rock, and even Mike Myers and Taylor Swift.It’s set in the 1930s, which is cool and period, and the production design is lovely, and all the actors are pretty. David O. Russell has made some interesting movies, but this one comes off somewhat like It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World. (Spoiler: that movie was pointless and dumb.)There’s a murder. There are fascists. Could be a statement about the perilous state of American democracy. I couldn’t find anything to get excited about. Pretty and talented people run around in nice clothing and emote. It’s not good.

Excellent film that, however, grotesquely distorts history.
Christian Bale who is always good, really excells in this film. The cast overall is extraordinary. Director David Russell is at his best, and recreates the ambiance of the 1917-1935 era. Lots of subtle humor and heart. In many respects the script is great. However, like most Hollywood films nowadays, the film bent over backwards to distort history and create heroes among spy agencies, when in reality they are usually villians. US spy agencies beginning with Military Intelligence during World War II supported fascism, extreme anti-semitism and racism. In this film, two of the heroes are benign spies who seek to thwart fascism in the US. This is propagandistic fantasy.

A torture to watch
Agree with all 1-star ratings. Good actors, bad plot, story is serious about silly stuff and silly about serious stuff like being a wounded veteran of the WWI. Very frivolous, light-minded take on History. And of course a history lesson of the evil capitalists taking over a democracy. How timely. What a terrible flick. Could not watch to the end.

not as good as I hoped it would be
It was entertaining. And a great cast. But the comedy was so sporadic we didn't fully understand the subtext of the plot until near the end.

[Importación australiana. Región DVD 4. En 1918, Burt Berendsen es enviado por los padres de su esposa separada para luchar en la Primera Guerra Mundial. Mientras está estacionado en Francia, Burt conoce y se hace amigo del soldado afroamericano Harold Woodsman.
